Install the outboard
1. Installation location
Install the outboard engine to the centerline (keel line) of the ship, ensuring balance, otherwise the boat will be difficult to maneuver. For boats without centerlines or asymmetry, consult a dealer.
2. Installation height
When installing an outboard, the position of the vortex plate should be between the bottom of the boat and 25 mm (1 inch) below it.
If the outboard is installed too high, eddy currents will be generated, which will reduce thrust; If the air is cut at the end of the propeller, it will cause the overheating of the outboard engine and an abnormal increase in speed; If the outboard installation is too low, the water resistance will increase, reducing the efficiency of the outboard.
For permanently installed models, installation should be done by a dealer or other person with experience in outboard installation. If you install your own outboard, you should be trained accordingly.
For convenient models, a dealer or other person with experience in outboard installation should demonstrate how to install the engine.
1. The horsepower of the outboard engine should not exceed the maximum amount specified on the ship's capacity nameplate. If the boat does not have a capacity nameplate, consult the manufacturer of the boat. If the ship is overpowered, it can cause serious instability.
2. The optimal mounting height of the outboard engine is affected by the boat, the engine combination and the actual use. Test runs at different heights help determine the optimal installation height.
